Artist residency program

This initiative offers the possibility for creators and artists to develop their work, while the city is enriched thanks to the contribution of these artists in its social and cultural life.

Its general objectives are:

• Support for the artistic creation of scenic and musical arts
• Enrich the cultural life of the city
• Promote access and knowledge of the public to the performing and musical arts
• Make cultural spaces and infrastructures profitable

The municipal government has promoted an ambitious, diverse and future-projected cultural policy that favors the sociocultural development of citizens; a policy that also allows economic growth, parcipaon and diffusion of the city's image.

In addition, Alcorcón has a wide municipal network of socio-cultural spaces, which includes five civic centers, two of which house the two resident companies that are part of this programme: Metamorphosis Dance, in Los Pinos, and Amas Escena, in Viñagrande.

Metamorphosis Dance and Amas Escena are two companies of great artistic and social interest, involved and leaders in the city's cultural policy. Both entities are closely linked with proposals for the creation of audiences and support for artistic creation, transversally permeating the cultural life of the city.

The Artist Residency Program makes it easier for these companies to develop a stable artistic creation process while encouraging direct intervention and communication with the public.

Both projects were created in the midst of a pandemic in 2020. Today, they are clearly consolidated in the city and their collaborations are essential in cultural mediation and audience creation projects in Alcorcón.

Metamorphosis Dance

Known for its bold and virtuous physical commitment, it is directed by the choreographers Iratxe Ansa (National Dance Award 2020) and Igor Bacovich (Nazionale Sfera D'Oro Award for Dance 2021).

This tandem of artists has worked in more than 30 countries and has choreographed more than 20 dance pieces premiered in relevant international groups and institutions such as the Lines Youth Ballet (United States), the Lyon Opera Ballet, the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, Arts Umbrella (Canada) or the National Dance Company of Spain, for which they created the piece 'Jián' in 2018.

“Discover Dance” Program

Metamorphosis Dance prepares a project every year to bring contemporary dance closer to the public, one of the artistic disciplines less known by the general public.

For Alcorcón, having two of the most renowned and awarded creators in the world is a magnificent opportunity to disseminate contemporary dance. This program includes both performances, workshops and open days, as well as the support of emerging dance companies.

This company is a platform for training and professional development in the Performing Arts for artists with functional diversity and their inclusion in the cultural industry.

His areas of work are stage training, inclusive employment, the personal development of each artist and cultural mediation.

Demonstrating that there are no barriers for artists with functional diversity is the key to one of the most innovative stage projects on the current scene that promotes both own productions and the job placement of artists with different abilities in production spaces, public or private, more emblematic.

The fact of having a stable space in Alcorcón to carry out their work is vital for a city that is enriched every day by hosting its original productions both in the programming open to the general public and in the school campaign.
